Match Day 3 – 19/04/2008

Reserves

The B’s were hot off wins in rounds 1 and 2 and had yet to be tested this season. This showed immediately at kick-off when our casual approach was punished by an alert opposition.

Sturt Marion intercepted the ball, strung 3 passes together and put the ball past Brinias, and into the back of our net. This was the quickest goal conceded since Keg was beaten by a lobbing kick-off shot at the Southern Breakers away game in 2006.

The boys gritted their teeth at having made such a silly error but pressed on. The first half continued with both teams sharing possession.

We continued to push toward their goal, then Demourtzidis received a penalty when his legs were swept out in the box. Syed stepped up and calmly buried the ball into the net.

The second half saw several chances go astray. Syed missed a one-on-one and Cosi skied a first touch shot from within the box.

The scores ended at 1 all. Sturt Marion proved a worthy opponent however the goal we conceded was because our heads were down at kick-off.  A lesson to be learnt!
